I get asked soon many times… Sally Why are you doing this?
As Bruce Willis says in Die Hard, sometimes your just “That guy” and for me, that is exactly how it came about.
It was November 2016, and I received a call from the BBC, with an embargoed interview subject, that little did I know would change the direction of my business forever… As the reporter on the phone said… “The government is banning tenant fees tomorrow, can you come into the studios tomorrow for an interview at 6am” I’ll be honest, I panicked…
I was devastated, my team were devastated, my industry was soon to be devastated… Many agents were struggling to make ends meet as it was, and that would mean curtains for far too many, honest, hardworking letting agents would suffer, through no fault of their own… By example, just in in my one Wolverhampton Branch alone, I stood to lose over 9k per month! this was REAL!
We, needed to do something…
At this point, I had been running some training courses for agents across the country, and I was starting to build up a good network of agents, that wanted to work together and share ideas and strategies… Plus I was just about to take over as President of ARLA…
From that moment on, I went into overdrive and I soon discovered, that “I” was that guy. I had the platform, the connections and nothing to lose. I had the opportunity to give ideas, solutions, plus hope and belief to so many agents out there.
I’ll be honest, speaking to agents all over the UK, down south and up north, on their thoughts on the ban, it was pretty depressing. In the main I found very unhappy, sad and completely lost agents… not knowing what on earth to do.
So me and my team got to work… Videos, blogging, press interviews, social media, talking at literally 100’s of agents events over the UK, and finally by pulling it all together, we created something… and we call it Agent Rainmaker, the next evolution of agent, continuously looking for NEW ways to grow, stand out and evolve…
And it is pretty exciting…
